Blockwise is an industry leader in balloon wrapping (balloon folding) equipment. These machines pleat a balloon to form a number of “wings”, and wrap the wings around the catheter shaft. The machines comprise 3 parts:
- The pleating station divides the balloon into a number of wings spiraled around the central shaft
- The compression station tightly compresses the winged balloon
- The machine base controls the process.
The pleating and compression dies are temperature-controlled. The differences between the models VE, VC, and VS are not in process quality, but rather in convenience, productivity, and mistake-proofing.
Blockwise balloon wrappers (balloon folders) have heated dies, and the VE and VC machines feature full process control with recipes. Learn more about balloon wrapping basics.
Recipe-Controlled Electric Actuation Balloon Wrappers
Reliable microcontroller, with touch-screen user interface provides automatic sequencing and timing, and selectable process recipes. Electric actuation puts all process settings under recipe control, adding the final level of productivity and mistake-proofing on these catheter balloon wrapping (balloon folding) machines.
Recipe-Controlled Pneumatic Actuation Balloon Wrappers
The VC2 is the latest generation of our workhorse balloon wrapping machine, the VC, used in production by many of the world’s leading manufacturers since 2007. Reliable microcontroller, with touch-screen user interface provides automatic sequencing and timing, and selectable process recipes.
Simple Balloon Wrappers
In R&D settings and low-production settings, manual control can provide high-quality balloon wrapping. Uses the same pleating and compression stations as Model VC, but lacks computerized control and timing. Process steps are timed by the operator with a stopwatch. Station actuation and balloon inflation are are controlled through hand-operated toggle valves. Temperature control is provided.
