Full recipe control over balloon wrapping process

Temperature-controlled stainless steel dies

Powerful and intuitive user interface

Model VE Electric Balloon Wrapper

Custom Die Design is used for all pleating dies in the VE balloon wrapper. The customer is provided with a table to fill in the details of a balloon range, such as distal seal diameter, double wall thickness, inflated diameter, and desired number of wings. One or more stainless steel die sets are then designed to accommodate the largest end of the range. All dies are hardened and electropolished.

Knowledge base: Pleating Die Customization

A product carrier on a manually-powered linear slide holds the catheter and allows the operator to quickly align the balloon catheter to control which parts of the product are pleated and compressed.

A touchscreen HMI (human-machine interface) allows the user to enter settings in “recipes” that specify a set of parameters for the balloon wrapping process. Pressure calibration and gauge checks are easy. Manual mode allows direct commands without a recipe. Engineering, maintenance, and manual functions can be password-protected.

The model VE balloon wrapper is a refinement of the Blockwise model VC. Process recipes running on the VC machine can be directly transferred to the VE, with the same results. Improvements in the VE machine are: fully electronic actuation of stations, better control of user access and manual mode, better reliability, better error logging, and easier calibration.

Calibration and checking of diameter, force, and pressure, and temperature is very quick and easy. Specific screens for checking or calibrating walk the user through the process. The intuitive process reduces the likelihood of calibration mistakes. User-supplied reference instruments for diameter (pins) force (weights), pressure, and temperature are required.

Integrated leak tester. Allows user to perform vacuum leak check at the end of the wrapping process, without disconnecting the catheter, and with minimal added trapped-air volume

The VE machine requires no maintenance. The pleating and compression mechanisms also require no maintenance – just keep them clean. Do not use in a dusty or dirty environment, and blow with compressed air. Clean the center opening with 99% isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free swab or cloth.

Model VE (G) for Alpha-Pleat™ Station

The most accurate pleating geometry in the world; We recommend that you select Model VEG unless you need to process balloons with diameters larger than 14 mm or lengths longer than 124 mm. VEG, with its smaller base plate, accommodates patented Alpha-Pleat™ stations with EDM-cut stainless steel dies that are self-guided by bearing balls, resulting in unparalleled geometric accuracy with virtually zero wear. The J-Crimp™ compression station relies on non-contacting dies with very small die-to-die gaps.

Diameter Length # Wings Die Material
0-17 mm 62 or 124 mm 2,3,4,5,6 Hardened Stainless Steel

Model VE (T) with Red Pleat™ or Twin-Cam™ Pleat Station

Model VET uses a larger base plate that can accommodate the larger Twin-Cam pleating and Red Crimp compression stations, for balloon larger than 14 mm diameter or 124 mm in length. The patented Twin-Cam™ mechanism ensures reliable and consistent pleating, no die-to-die wear, and, uniform temperature distribution. The Red Crimp features stainless steel dies are guided by bearing balls, resulting in near-perfect geometrical accuracy. The VET machine base can also accommodate Alpha-Pleat™ and J-Crimp™ stations for pleating and compression.
