These machines pleat a balloon to form a number of “wings”, and wrap the wings around the catheter shaft.
The machines comprise 3 parts: 1) a “pleating station” that divides the balloon into a number of
wings spiraled around the central shaft, 2) a “compression station” that tightly compresses the
winged balloon, and 3) a “machine base” that controls the process. The pleating and compression dies are
temperature-controlled. The differences between the models VE, VC, and VS are not in process quality,
but rather in convenience, productivity, and mistake-proofing.
